Delayed egress Locks allow for the locking of required fire egresses, delaying the exit of people from your building

Delayed egress Locks allow for the locking of required fire egresses, delaying the exit of people from your building. These locks are frequently installed in assisted living, daycare, nursing home, hospital, and retail environments. Although fire and building codes prevent building owners from locking occupants inside their building, delayed egress locks are allowed in many occupancies to delay the egress of a resident for up to 15 seconds.

The function of a delayed egress locks is such that a force applied to the exit mechanism for at least one second causes an alarm to sound at the door, then, after 15 seconds, the door unlocks allowing occupants to egress.
